Departure

Marrakech

This is the tour that makes most of our customers come to Morocco. Five days linking Marrakech to the erg Chebbi dunes, crossing everything the country does best: a 2,260-metre pass, two dizzying gorges, a palm valley over a hundred kilometres long, and finally an ocean of sand.

What you cross

Day one takes you over the Tizi n’Tichka, the great Atlas pass. The road has been rebuilt: wide, flowing, with some sixty kilometres of linked bends. You then drop onto the southern slope and the landscape changes completely.

Next come the Dades Gorges with their world-famous hairpins, then the Todra Gorges, where the road threads along the floor of a three-hundred-metre canyon. The Draa Valley then unrolls the longest palm grove in Morocco.

Level required

The route is entirely on tarmac: no off-road section is compulsory. What makes it demanding is the daily mileage and the heat in the south. Solid road experience is needed; off-road experience is not.

When to go

March to May and September to November are the best windows. In summer, temperatures in the Draa Valley regularly pass 45 °C — we frankly advise against July and August.
